Financial management programs help people improve their use and management of financial resources. Programs are for individuals, couples and families as well as for financial professionals.
Families with stable financial situations are more likely to provide for current and future family needs. Less likely to need public or private financial assistance, these families may add to the total community financial assistance pool.

MANAGING RESOURCES -
PROGRAM GOALS 2005-2006

Goal: Teach families to access, use and manage resources wisely.

Objective 1: Families will decrease debt and increase financial saving and investment.

Action Steps:
1.Promote debt reduction and savings educational pieces including website "Pay Down Debt."
2.Prepare evaluation of the "Pay Down Debt." Website from the first year of use.
3.Statewide In-service of Extension Educators in increase their knowledge level in supporting the website "ask an expert button" and presenting financial programs in the community.
4.Develop a community lesson on "Credit Use and the Credit Score - What it means to you."
5.Focused Educators will attend national meetings to have cutting edge knowledge of issues and programs.
6.Develop financial management media releases and short programs to educate young adults, families and seniors (including participation in the new drug card program).


Objective 2: Youth will increase knowledge about financial management and increase savings.

Action Steps:
1.Decrease debt acquisition by promoting and teaching "Credit Card Blues" to 2000 high school students.
2.Teach trainers to use High School Financial Planning to assist students with financial management especially for those attending college.
3.Teach youth money management principles using various avenues including real world money simulations, Auto town and 4-H money management projects.
4.Develop a school enrichment program that can be utilized in the elementary grades and can be adopted across the state.
5.Continue to use, review, and enhance evaluations of existing and new programs.
